The Langham Boston #MurphysDoBoston

Langham boston review During our visit to Boston, we were invited to stay at the Langham Boston Hotel and we checked ourselves in for a night of modern elegance and British charm. The Langham Boston is not only one of the fabulous hotels you can snag as part of a Porter Escapes package but it’s also just a ten minute walk from South station, which means you can get to the hotel from the airport for free! The Silver line bus brought us (and our double stroller and luggage) from the airport to South Station and we were able to easily walkover to the hotel. From the moment you enter the Langham lobby you’re swept off to a different world. A sparkly twinkly one ( you know how I like my bling!).

Disclosure : We were guests of the Langham Hotel but, as always, opinions are TOTALLY ours!

We arrived at the hotel around 7 p.m. after our Porter flight and both kids were snoozing so we checked into our one bedroom suite and then went for dinner at Row 34. I loved Little Monkey’s reaction on our return! She was so confused as to how our stuff was already at the hotel. Watch the video below and you’ll see what I mean.

historic boston hotels The Langham Boston used to be the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and as you explore the various parts of the hotel, you can’t help by notice the hints of its 1920s Renaissance Revival heritage. I love that the hotel has so many rooms and areas for guests to wander into and on our walk to our breakfast at Cafe Fleuri ( I’m still dreaming of the Maine Lobster Eggs I had!), I accidentally stumbled upon many rooms. The Bond Lounge was one such room  that totally intrigued me…only until I saw the room that was once the Federal Reserve Bank’s boardroom! Even the kids were mesmerized by the gold ceilings. To top it all off, the bank vault is now used as a pastry kitchen- how awesome is that?

The suites at The Langham Boston are perfect for families. Our one bedroom suite was able to accommodate up to 6 people. Yes the room comes with a fridge that can easily house those bottles of milk little ones need, but they’ve also thought about the parents with the little touches like a coffee machine, complimentary bottles of water and my favourite, an umbrella for the rainy days! They even had mini bathrobes in our suite for the kids! As you heard in the video, Little Monkey enjoyed her sleep on the pull out couch…while that couch wasn’t made with my comfort levels in mind, the kids were fine on it. I, on the other-hand, truly enjoyed my sleep on the luxuriously Signature Blissful bed. The hubs most enjoyed the fact that there were so many outlets, docking stations and a laptop sized safe. We most certainly had the space to spread out and get some work done once the kids went to bed. I’m a huge fan of separate areas for kids and parents during travels! It keeps us all sane during a vacation when we’re with each other 24-7.

The Langham Boston is well located and we were able to walk to the Boston Children’s Museum, the waterfront and the Boston Common easily. Of course the hotel does offer the services of the famous Pink Taxi. I hadn’t heard about the Pink Taxi until we spotted it on the streets of Boston but I soon learned that The Langham Boston houses a London-style taxi that has been specially imported from Great Britain and retrofitted to U.S. auto standards for guests to be taken from the hotel to any spot within a two mile radius through the scenic streets of Boston. I’m quite sad I didn’t get to ride the Pink Taxi, but not as sad as missing out on the famous Chocolate Bar (all you can eat chocolate at Cafe Fleuri? WOAH) and the Afternoon tea sessions! Clearly, I have yet another reason to head back to Boston over a weekend very soon! If you’re looking for a kid friendly spot to dine at, Cafe Fleuri was awesome. They had a great kids menu and even offered dim sum on their breakfast menu. The kids loved getting crayons and wax strings to play with while we waited on the delicious dishes.

Langham hotels with kids

We only spent a night at The Langham Boston but even during that short time we managed to interact with a couple staff members who ensured that we were happy and most importantly, that the kids were well taken care of! The personalized service and the attention to the little details is what sets the Langham apart for me. The historic building and the fancy modern surroundings with tons of chandeliers scattered throughout the hotel, only added to that special feeling I felt in my bones as I stepped into the lobby. You really do feel very fancy the moment you step into the Langham!
