A Kid Free Stay at the Hilton Lac Leamy #MurphysDoOutaouais

chihulyHaving spent a month travelling around with the kids, I was reflecting on our romantic getaway to the Outaouais region this past November. During our second night on that quick Quebec weekend getaway we checked into the Hilton Lac-Leamy. From the moment I entered this hotel in Quebec I was captivated by the amazing artwork I saw throughout the expansive property which is home to multi-levels of entertainment.

Disclosure : Our stay was complimentary as part of the prize we won through Tourism Outaouais and Travel Massive but, as always, opinions are TOTALLY ours.

Located on the shores of Leamy Lake in Gatineau, Hilton Lac-Leamy is in close proximity to Ottawa as well. This worked out well for us as we were able to enjoy a fantastic meal at Soif and then link up with some friends in Ottawa. We got to enjoy the Quebec charm whilst still soaking in some of that city life and that was a win-win.
As with nearly all our Hilton Hotel experiences, the bed was uber comfy and the service attentive. The main difference at Hilton Lac-Leamy is that nearly all rooms have a spectacular view of the area. I loved waking up  to the water view and totally regret not taking in the sunset from the hotel because it would have been SPECTACULAR! Here’s the reason most of their hotel rooms have over-sized windows!

With no kids around, the hubs and I enjoyed a Quebec beer in our room and caught up on some work. We had a busy night ahead and only an hour to unwind but we made the most of it. We were staying in one of the executive rooms which gave us access to the Conrad lounge. We sadly missed the evening happy hour but did swing by for breakfast. While the main breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant offers a larger spread, I prefer the tranquility of the Conrad for breakfast. It’s an 18+ lounge which really helped us revel in the kid-free time.
Two things really stand out for me at the Hilton Lac-Leamy – the amazing artwork and the number of activities on offer under one roof! From the moment I stepped in and marveled at the Chihuly glasswork, I was totally held captivated. Chihuly’s artwork can be found throughout the lobby and as you drive in be sure to check out the roundabout as the “Cycle de vie” sculpture was inspired by an ice sculpture created by three casino employees. How cool is that?

When it comes to activities my favourite is the ability to swim outdoors during all seasons!! One can swim indoors and outdoors in the heated pools that provide a breathtaking view of Lac de la Carrière. The highlight for many would definitely be the amazing one of a kind casino that’s attached to the hotel. I know that if my dad or our nanny were to ever visit Hilton Lac-Leamy they’d definitely enjoy the many games and entertainment facilities on offer at the Casino. As a food lover I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t have the chance to visit their award-winning Five Diamond restaurant, Le Baccara. I’ve head that they have quite the wine cellar! I did spot a pretty amazing meat aging chamber at the Arome restaurant as well. I also should mention that the hotel is home to a cigar lounge, a theatre (where some amazing acts perform!), a nightclub and a couple bars for those parents looking to dance the night away.

Hilton Lac-Leamy also wins when it comes to turn-down service – who doesn’t think the casino chip chocolates aren’t perfect? With so many engaging activities on offer under one roof means that you don’t even need to leave the hotel, making it a fabulous winter destination if you don’t want to venture out in the snow. I definitely plan to return to the Hilton Lac-Leamy during the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival.
