Guys there’s a Sushi Festival happening in Toronto VERY SOON (okay… a little over a month away!! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this. We ALL love sushi in this family and I was SHOCKED to learn that there’s been an annual Toronto Sushi Festival happening in this fair (and delicious) city of ours for the past two years!! The hubs and I plan to attend with Baby Boy & Little Monkey and we’ve got a giveaway for you!

 

On March 5th and 6th the Toronto Sushi Festival will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and it’s a family friendly event! There is a 19+ VIP portion but General admission access is open to all ages and word on the street is that strollers are allowed (though if it gets overcrowded with strollers they can be checked in at coat check-my advice, baby wear!). VIP tickets are $100 each (comes with lounge access, sushi kits and 20 food tickets), while general admission tickets are at $30 each and comes with 5 food tickets. Food tickets are worth $1.50 each and will be available in sheets of 10, yes they will accept credit and debit cards! My hope is that we’ll get about three pieces for each ticket. The event will take place at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre by Eglinton and Don Mills so it’s a bit of a trek from the downtown core, but totally worth it I assume! I can’t wait to get my sushi on, that’s foshure!

 

 

Celebrity chef Dennis Tay of Top Chef Canada and Executive Chef James Gao will interact with guests and answer questions on the history of sushi and the future of the industry, so if you’re keen to learn more about sushi, this is your chance! Another thrilling first in Toronto is the sampling of the Filipino – Japanese sushi fusion brought by the chefs and founders of Rock Paper Ceiseux and Sommelier Arlene Oliveros, will be on hand for sushi and wine pairings. Guests will vote on who will get Toronto’s Best Sushi Award.  I should mention that there will be open-mic karaoke and door prizes!
