Yes I Spy on my Kids #AventMoms | Giveaway

Baby Boy and Little Monkey are now as mischievous as ever and I while I treasure those quiet moments that are coming by more and more frequently, I’m also oh so very suspicious. I’ve come to associate the quiet with the two of them plotting or doing something they REALLY shouldn’t be doing. Five out of ten times, they are either sneaking in candy, spreading something or another all over the floor or giving their toys a bath somewhere they shouldn’t be! These are the reasons we still have a baby monitor around at our place. We also travel with our monitor as it enables us to have some peace of mind when we’re in foreign places and the kids are in their own room. When Philips Avent and PTPA asked us to take the new Philips Avent SCD630 Video Monitor for a spin, we were curious.

As you may recall, we have a solid list of must haves when it comes to finding the perfect baby monitor and the Philips Avent Digital Video Monitor has all the basic features we look for. It also has some new features that are Ab-Fab. Having received the PTPA seal of approval, the Philips Avent Monitor is parent tested and parent approved.

avent baby monitorAs with most monitors these days, parents can easily play one of five relaxing tunes without even walking into the room. My kids are older and no music will put them to sleep once they’re awake but the night light feature is great. Little Monkey has entered the phase of ghosts and monsters so having a night light built into the monitor helps her sleep easy at night. It’s also great for when we’re travelling and they aren’t familiar with the room they’re sleeping in (like the time I put them to sleep on a SUPER high wrought iron bed during our travels!).

I also love that when I catch them in the act of doing something WRONG I can speak to them via the monitor. I can see them even when they turn the lights off and tell me they’re sleeping! The infra-red night vision isn’t as clear as the daytime video but it does automatically switch on in the dark so I can see them in the “nighttime” much to their dismay. The sound quality is also great which is helpful for the infant stages so you can discern between a giggle, burb and whine vs. a cry. When the kids move out of the camera’s vision I can easily pan the room remotely and the camera also has a digital zoom so I can easily see what it’s their hands or mouth! Luckily they haven’t figured out the spots I can’t pan into.

Philips Avent helps me prove to my kids once again that …

Living in a condo we don’t have full control of the temperature in our home and so it might sound odd but it gets really hot at our place during the winter. The monitor displays the temperature and I am able to set an alert for when the temperatures goes above or below a specific temperature. I found that to be a brilliant feature. No more waking up to find Baby Boy soaked in sweat.

The design is sleek and makes it easy to quickly toss into our suitcases during our travels. I also really like the fact that the cordless Philips Avent Monitor has an ECO mode to reduce power consumption during the night. It basically switches the audio and video transmission off until your child makes a sound and then it’s activated. This way the battery lasts nearly 10 hours, which is amazing.

If you’re looking for a baby monitor (even if your kids are no longer babies!) the Philips Avent SCD630 Video Monitor  should be a strong contender. If you’re Canadian (not open to Quebec residents, SORRY!) enter below for a chance to win one of two Philips Avent Monitors valued at over $200 each!

Now tell me, do you snoop on your kids?
